Omar Figueroa vs. Cruz Preview

On Friday, June 17, Golden Boy Promotions returns to the Rio Grande Valley to feature one of the Valley’s own at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. Weslaco native Omar “Panterita” Figueroa Jr. (11-0-1, 9 KO’s) will fight in the main event of “Sólo Boxeo Tecate”.

Omar is coming off a spectacular TKO win over John Figueroa of Puerto Rico on the Showtime event held on April 23, 2011 headlining Vic Darchinyan vs. Yonnhy Perez.

A two-fisted banger who has earned the nickname “Panterita” for his ability to destroy any opponent in his path, 21-year-old Omar Figueroa (11-0-1, 9 KO’s) has blasted his way to nine knockout victories since his professional debut in 2008.

The hard hitting undercard will also feature local favorites Raul Tovar (8-5-1, 3 KO’s), Juan Lucio (4-1-1, 2KO’s), Oscar Tovar Jr. (1-0), Juan Reyna (Pro Debut), Pablo Padilla (Pro Debut).

Figueroa which headlines a night of world-class professional boxing is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Cavazos Boxing Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate. Doors open at the State Farm Arena at 6:00pm, the first bell rings at 7:00pm and the TeleFutura broadcast begins at 11:30pm ET / 8:30pm PT (10:30pm CT).
