Young Pitchers Must Grow In Order For South To Have Success

 

The Harlingen South Hawks invested in the youth especially on the pitching side of game and there are hoping that these pitchers though young, will develop into a strong pitching staff.  1^st Team All-State players Zach Flores returns for his fourth season on the varsity team.  Senior Elijah Hirschmann and junior Oscar Garza are returning for their third season on the varsity team.  All-Valley Newcomer Of The Year Anjel Gonzales is another key component of the 2012 Hawk team.  Hirshchmann, Zach Martinez, L.J. Gonzales, Bobby Arias, Jesse Lillard, Dylan Wells and David Arias should lead the Hawks on the mound this season.  Speedy Oscar Garza can play a number of positions including middle infield, outfield, and pitcher.  Cody Roberts returns at third base.  Senior Drew Molder (DH/P/3B) is a good hitter and versatile senior Kevin Rodriguez will do some catching as well as pitching and play all the infield positions and he will be one of the team leaders.  Senior Daniel Rodriguez has some varsity experience from last season and looks to make strides in 2012.  The outfield will consist of Hirschmann, Garza, Mike Leal, and Daniel Perales. Christian Mares has really improved and will be looking to crack the line-up at some point during the season.  The Hawks finished in fourth place for the second consecutive year and are looking forward to tying to improve that position in 2012.
