Raiders Well Stocked For 2012 Season
The PSJA North Raiders begin 2012 with plenty of firepower for the always competitive district 31-5A playoff road. Senior Alex Gutierrez is one of the top players in the Rio Grande Valley and he will be counted on to lead the Raiders. The Raiders pitching staff will be led by Gutierrez, Brian Barbosa, Caleb Garza, and Fernie Martinez. Their pitching staff will be one of the keys to having a great season. “Our key to having a successful season will depend on how quickly younger players can step up to replace graduated Luna and Perez. We need to find some quality pitchers and get better defensively. Our season depends on how quickly the younger players can mature at the varsity level,” said Coach Rick Valdez who is beginning his second season at PSJA North. The Raiders had a good season last year finishing third then defeating a good Brownsville Pace team in B-District action. PSJA North always fields a good squad and 2012 will be no different. The Raiders will fight with cross-town rival PSJA High for the district title.
