Bruni Badgers at La Villa Cardinals
So here we go guys a game that will decide the 32-A District Title. Just wondering what everyone thinks about this very important game for both teams. Last year Bruni jumped on us 14 to 0 and then the offense got it going out scoring the Badgers 55 to 8 in the last three quarters of play. To me the team that commits the fewest mistakes and wants the title more will take this game. I know Bruni is coming in undefeated at 8-0 (4-0 in district) and the Cards are 5-3 (4-0 in district). So cannot wait for this game!!!!! Good luck to the Cardinals!!!!

La Villa hosts Bruni in championship showdown

LA VILLA
— This one’s for all the marbles.
Tonight’s district 32-A matchup between the Bruni Badgers and La Villa Cardinals has more than just playoff implications involved, as both have already clinched a spot.
This game is for the district title with both teams coming into the contest at 4-0, which makes the game one for the ages.
La Villa (4-0, 5-3) comes into the contest as back-to-back district champions and head coach Eugene Garza knows that Bruni (4-0, 8-0) is coming in with intentions of taking the title back home with them.
“Bruni is coming into this game fired up and they want to take the title away from us,” Garza said. “Their program has really come together and the coaches have done a great job turning it around. But, I told the kids that this is our district and let them try to take this title away from us. We will have to work hard and play an absolute perfect game.”
La Villa’s offense has been clicking in district play as they have racked up over 370 yards per game with 300 of them coming on the ground.
“So far the run has worked for us and we are going to stick with it coming into this game,” said Garza. “We are going to try and wear down Bruni’s defense and pound it down their necks.”
Defensively, the Cardinals have picked it up a notch as well in district play as they have given up only 150 yards per game.
“Our defense has become extremely tough and not very many teams have had luck running on us,” said Garza. “Bruni does run the ball as their formation is the slot. However, our defense is used to this style and that pretty much gives us an advantage.”
Garza said his team will have to eliminate crucial mistakes if his team is going to be successful.
“We are working on turnovers all this week,” said Garza. “We had at least 8 or 9 turnovers against Santa Maria last week and cannot afford to do that. If we can do that then I feel we are going to be in good shape.”
