i think (not that it matters) but if you are a 5a and a few 4a districts should be D1.....everyone else D2.

D1-alamo venom, ee lil jackets, edinburg elite, harlingen cardinals, mercedes tigers, midvalley herd, mission mustangs, psja longhorns, rgv javelinas, roma gladiators, san benito greyhounds, sharyland rattlers, stricklands alleycats, vsu trojans, weslaco thunder
    *highlighted teams can be d2

D2-hidalgo toros, la feria lions, la villa mighty cardinals, lyford bulldogs, monte alto blue devils, port isabel tarpons, raymondville bearkats, rio hondo bobcats, santa rosa warriors

Do you take in account opinions from other AD's? I think it looks ridiculous that a small town with a population of 2000 people with play against a town with 75000 people, and I am speaking for the whole organization not just one team.

I'm want to know what the Rio Hondo Bobcats classification will be for the fall season?

Was great coaching!!! lol we got lucky (my flaggers). Honestly I would like to go D1 and play "the better teams", fall where we may the boys will be better players either way when going into Jr High IMO.

yeah but....(nothing against rio hondo), if you really think about it....the bobcats had a few good teams but as the jrs saw in the state championship the level of competition is way different upstate. you cant move a whole organization up because one team made a state championship. once again nothing against those bobcats but had our team played the bvya knights....we could have beat them easily. and we got smashed by an outlaw team that was way better than us on that day. so its a huge jump.....rio hondo is well organized and well coached but they belong in d2 just like every other small town in the rgv......i dont even think la villa should be d1, but then again thats just my

Hey our rookies only won the state title. Why did we move up lol........
J/k. If Weslaco's rookies, and juniors were in D2 shhhhhhhh.... State champs.
Same could be said about about Mission's midgets, and rookies.
Harlingen's midgets, and juniors as well. Our rookies could make it as well.
    JMO........
BY THE WAY D1 State Champs sounds a hell of alot better.

True, looking at the flag boys moving up to midget level in the fall we will be small compared to most of the teams playing in this spring season. Im going to have to look for some big boys for my line.

D1 and D2 is determined by the overall win percentage of your club. D2 Clubs that have a 50% (I think) win percentage can muve up and if they are below that they may move down to D2 if they were D1. Doesnt matter the town size or numbers , just the win percentage. However, new clubs to TYFA may be put in a D1 or D2 category on how their organization is formed or if they were a pre existing organization joining Tyfa for the first time.
Example: Sharyland overall record was 10-22. Our win percentage was 45% Mission was 16-16 regular season 50% win percentage - both first year clubs. Shary will go D2 and Mission will go D1 ( i believe they had the option of going either D1 or D2.

i think it should be population instead of winning percentage that determines whether ur d1 or d2........if the weslaco panthers have a 0% winning total in two yrs, they arent going to move them to 3A right? i think if you have more than 2 5A high schools in ur town you are d1 regardless......teams like sharyland that is a 5a school should stay in d1, ur kids arent going to play santa rosa and monte alto when they grow up right??? let them get used to state caliber talent now instead of later. but once again.....just......my

Lets all remember that YOUTH FOOTBALL isnt based on what your local school division is. We send a flyer out to all the elementary schools and we limit each team to 25-30 kids as a organization. We take ANY kid who wishes to play. We do not recruit at all. This means we dont go to the local elementary school and try to find out who the studs are in PE and try to talk them into playing football. Some organizations seek out players who are talented to join them. Thats fine if that is what they want to do. Thats not what Sharyland is about. We are about trying to get kids involved who want to play no matter the talent level. We are also still developing coaches over here as well. We had maybe 5 coaches on staff last year that had any experience. This year the number will be around 10 coaches who have experience.
Winning percentage is a good gage of where a team should play. Personally I could care less who they play in High School. Thats not what I do. I train kids who want to play, I dont care who they play in HS. We will play and compete against whoever we line up against.

Now if we ever get to the point that we want to be exclusive and start recruiting specific kids to come play for us then I guess we will go to a Select league or Division One. But a long as I operate the club we will be recreational and focus on getting kids involved and learning the game to the best of their abilities.

I get really tired of all this you have to play the best to be the best BS. These are kids,5-11 year old kids who for the most part all they want to do is come out and play football. My sole job as a coach is to teach them the game no matter their talent level. It is not my job to develope each kid into the next heismen trophy winner or next HS superstar. My job is to develope them into football players and to be the best player they can be, all equally.
