TYFA Spring League
I have a little more information about our Spring League.
* The age cut off is August 1, 2010, so the players can pay on the same team as they did in the Fall 2010 season.
*Six game, six week season
*Bowl Weekend
-Two games
-Teams are invited into the bowl games
-Not all teams will be invited
-Invitation are based on win-loss record
-Bowl games will be held in multiple locations
*Spring League is for Midgets, Rookies, & Juniors
-You do not need to have all three teams to participate in Spring League
-You can participate with as few as one or as many as you want
*Flags normally do not participate; however, we can do Flags in the Valley but no Bowl weekend unless we do it down here with just team from the RGV.
*I do not know the fees yet
*With the following exceptions, the rules are the same as the Fall League
-10-Minute Running Clock (see 2.6.1-3 for more details)
-Max game time is 1-hour, 15-minutes
-Games may end in a tie
-No division one or division two
-Spring Ball the rosters are limited to a minimum of 13 to a maximum of 25. Administrative waivers may be considered.
If your team is interested, please email me at RGVChapterDir@TYFA.Com or private message me.Last edited by Harlan; 01-13-2011 at 02:03 PM.

Cardinal99,
I do not have the cost yet. I will not until Saturday evenings meeting.
We will need a minimum of five flag teams to make it work. Some of the flag games will take place at Dodge Arena.Harlan

STATE FARM
HARLAN:
Simple,then cut a CHECK and have them put your name on it or simply dont play there,you should be grateful that they let you play their instead of complaining about the name on the bldg,it cost money to run that facility you know and that is one way to offset the cost,every big Venue in the country does this. Perspective is the key,would you rather be playing in a hay field?Freaking Amazing

Here is a snipit from an email to me. I thought I would post it here just in case someone else had the same questions.
Can players join that did not play Fall League Football? Yes
Will we still host a game if we are only participating with only the Rookie program? You can participate with just one team, but I do not have an answer yet on how the home games are going to run. I will have an answer tomorrow.
I have talk to another organization and wonder if TYFA will allow us to merge for the spring? Your players will have to join whichever organization they want to play for in the Spring. With that said, you will be able to return to your original organization for the Fall league and are not bound to stay with the Spring League organization for the Fall League.Harlan

Sharyland will not have Spring football this year. Just fall ball. Now if Sharyland is closer for ya come sign him up for the fall. Would love to have him be a part of the Rattler tradition.

no problem, while the thought of spring football sounds great to me, I also stick to my idea that if you want to build better athletes you have them participate in different sports. Basketball, wrestling, track, baseball, soccer etc. (builds and strengthens different muscle groups) I see too many kids playing a particular sport year round that end up with 'burnout" or with a repetitive use injury that ends their career. Plus I like coaching different sports. Keeps my mind fresh and at my age that's becoming more difficult every year.

Okay, I got more information on the Spring Football League.
* $25 fee per player
* No team fees
* Organizations may have just one team in the league or as many as they want
* Flags (4, 5, 6), Midgets (6, 7), Rookies (8, 9), Juniors (10, 11); No Seniors (12, 13)
* 4 year olds must have turned 5 by 12/31/10
* 6 years must declare which they are play (flag or tackle) at registation
* Age as of August 1, 2010
* Teams can start practicing now.
* Player certification in March
* Games start in April
* Games to be held at a TYFA sponsored field
* TYFA pays for the officials
* Six game, six week schedule
* Two game, bowl weekend, top performing teams will be invited
* Bowl weekend would feature a San Antonio playing RGV at a neutral site (maybe Alice or Kingsville)
We will have a Spring Football League meeting within the next week to 10-days.
If you are interested in having your team play, please let me know.
I have some kids from McAllen that are interested in playing in the Spring and they are looking for a team.
