Default Sharyland breaks into the top 10 in State

Sharyland comes in at #10 in this weeks High School Baseball Polls @ #10. Sharyland has a 19-3 record. The teams they have lost to is #1 in 5A (Carroll) and #1 in 4A (Calallen). They also lost to #9 in 4A (Moody). Lost 2 of those games by 1 run to the #1's. Good competition early on. Sharyland has a tough week this week playing LJ Palmview and Mc Memorial both who gave Sharyland good games the first go around.

Also P/OF Eric Gutierrez is #13 in State in batting average (582) and also has the most HR (6) out of the top 25 hitters.

I see Laredo Alexander is #9 in State. I know Sharyland has already started scouting that District. It'll be a tough road as usual for Sharyland but at least that have a shot to go deep into the playoffs.

Don't they have a shot every year to go deep but disappoint repeatedly?

Sure, it's disappointing but at least they have a shot. Not many teams can say that especially from the Valley. It's not like they've been blown out in the playoffs. Just glad they have an opportunity this years and the next few years to come.

Good luck to the Bobcats in the playoffs.

Hopefully they do turn it around would like to see a valley team go deep (like 4 or 5) in the playoffs

Everyone has a shot to advance, as long as they start playing well when it counts.....

I see Sammy from Edinburg High is in a lot of the top pitching categories. He's #2 in State with 94 strikeouts, #5 with 7 wins and 24th with a .076 era.

Eric G. from Sharyland and Bryant Stites from Memorial are in the top 25 in a lot of the batting categories.

Exactly, getting ranked seems to be the kiss of death.

Don't agree.....not everyone. You obviously haven't watched much baseball this season. Sharyland has a legit chance...whether they've gotten it done in the past or will ever get it done...they always have a legit chance.......

Only 1 ranked team wins State every year in every class. If you look at the teams Sharyland has lost to this year I think it's warranted for them at this point. They have 2 tough games this week...maybe if they lose one or both it'll be good for them...??? Sharyland faces everyones number 1 pitcher....The kid from Calallen has the best era in 4A given up only 1 earned run all season...that was against Shary. Shary lost that game in the last inning 2-1 sorta like a lot of their playoff loses in the past....especially in a 1 game playoff anything can happen and it's not always the best team that wins those...I would rather be talked about having a chance than not...some fact and some my opinions....Hope to see a Valley team get far this year...

IMO, the best TEAM does win, the most talented doesn't always win....u are correct I haven't seen any baseball this year, I did last year and I thgt shary was the best until I saw other teams advance further than them...its not how u start but finish....

Lots of variables in baseball and i'm not sure what your definitions are of best team / most talented team are or your definition of a good finish is......i guess to some people / teams how you finish varies.....If your specifically talking about Sharyland then without doubt I'd say the players/ coaches / fans are dissapointed when they dont advance as far as they thought they would....it's all relative to each how far you think your team should get...only 4 teams get to State to fight for the Championship....regardless when Shary gets knocked out this or in the past at least they had chance and their chance better than a lot of others.....it's not an easy road this year for anyone..good luck!
