This board is on a downward spiral

Because of politics. I'm seeing it here and I'm seeing it on 5Atexasfootball.com too. 5A has actually had this issue much longer, they didn't create a separate forum just for politics. Their off-topic forum began being filled with politic garbage, and it's sad to say a LOT of good posters have left that site for this very reason.

This board has the Discuss and Debate forum created separately, to purposely keep politics out of the rest of the board. But the problem is when long time posters begin sharing their political views, then it turns into a republican/democrat issue, then it turns into a class welfare issue, then a race issue.

It went from guys logging on to talk football/sports and other normal daily chatter, to people taking sides and making this board a divided one.

When I walk into a Buffalo Wild Wings or Fast Eddies, I'm there to kick it and have a good time with my friends, meet some new people, talk about sports, music, daily bulls***, whatever. I'm not there to talk about some new bill Barack Obama signed, and OH my Gosh did you hear about the tea-party?! IMMIGRATION laws!! Remember Bush!! Budget...DEFICIT! S***! F***! TITTYYY!!!

Pardon me. Hearing that crap signals my tourette's.

I used BWW and Fast Eddies as an example because when I used to log in here, that's what I was here for. To have fun and meet new peeps. I remember when guero used to post funny videos and topics. Now its just Obama this, Obama that. Republicans this, democrats that. I remember when Newbs used to talk about things other than guns and Obama. I remember when I used to think EOTT was white!! And i could count on him being in either the football or softball forum. I remember when greenblood used to never make sense!....and somethings dont always change, and that's a good thing. But now it's just the same repetitive garbage over and over again. Obama. Republicans. Immigration. Health Care. Race. This board is like a cupcake. A cupcake covered in political icing, sprinkled with sh*tty posts by some newb who calls himself the "truth".

But underneath all that crappy icing, is the good stuff. That wholesome, warm, soul filling good stuff that we all love.

In addition Bunny, I'm just not that into it anymore man. I started posting on the other board when my kids were Freshmen. 2001? 2002? You know I was into it then. The boys graduated and the next year there were a bunch of kids I was still close to so I paid attention then. After that, Corb's eldest made varsity and that kid's like my little brother. We hunt together and attend shooting comps together. So I was still conected. After he graduated his little bro made Varsity so I was still interested.

Now I don't have a dog in the fight. I'm footballed out bro. I don't have kids envolved with the game so I'm on the outside looking in. I'll still attend games and root for my team but if I was to be as rabid as I used to be without knowing what the eff I was talking about I'd look like that idiot Lard Tard.

Sorry to let you down bro but after 15+ years of football I'm burned out.

Only reason I drive by this board anymore is to catch up on the nonsense in the D&D board. My advice to you is if ya don't like it... don't click.

As far as being football'd out, I still enjoy attending Friday night games even if it's not an EE game.

When I joined this board back in whenever, I joined because people were constantly talking football and other sports. And the sports pub was full of interesting topics with people actually commenting and having convos. But those were also different posters at the time. Redfish. Guy. Ol Buzzard. Go-LF. Arlenerocks. IwanttocleanLFballs. Amnova. Manimal. We still get an occasional RPM sighting. Corb!! Man I miss that guy, we used to call ourselves the graveyard shift posting all night. Even chuck used to post a lot more.

Now I log on and there's maybe 1 topic if any that seems interesting or new. Eh, maybe it's time to move on. Times change, people change. Maybe I need a new hobby. I heard smoking crack is fun maybe I'll try that.

sorry man... it's hard to connect with a lot of these subjects from such a distance... i think we all know who tore this board apart by his departure though... it was glutes... once he left, he was soon followed by all the La Joya posters(who were generally good, humorous dudes), then came the move to the new boards, and some got lost in the shuffle, like the one Brownsville Rivera poster, whose name I can't recall... then the disgrace that was Morristhecat(or whatever name he happened to be reincarneted with), who turned some people off to the board... then the loss of our Brownsville Lopez representative... the board is left with posters from too few schools...

I think the real problem is, that we don't have a lot of posters that aren't from E-E, Mercy, Rio Hondo, PI, SB, LF, Sharyland, Harl or Wes.

I mean, that's 9 of like what? 40 RGV High schools?
