Coaches need to decide which one of several defenses, (perimeter, rotation, or middle back up) will work best with the talent they have. They also have to decide who will sub for whom. Will they use a libero or not? If they do, where in the back row will she play? Many, many decisions to made; all in less than a week.

Mission ran about 6 weeks on Saturdays; Edinburg about 3 weeks in June on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; Hwy 83 about 3 weeks in July on Mondays and Wednesdays. The teams are run by either former players or a parent. Usually the teams consist of players from that school and usually players that are expected to play varsity that season.

football COULD do that, but it would cost WAYYYYYY too much money and effort, too many players needed, insurance equipment, referees... the girls in these summer leagues put in a lot of work, and it is the same as basketball, those summer leagues are finally starting to put us a little closer to the teams from upstate...
in all seriousness though, I enjoy volleyball just as much as football, it provides a lot of excitement, and the format that the game runs through, keeps it interesting most of the time... you don't ever have to 'run out the clock'... heck the fans are very appreciative when you blow out a team, because it saves them from watching bad volleyball... and exciting games can last a long time... follow your team around a bit and tell me that you don't get caught up with the sport
