I'm as critical as anyone on Obama, but I don't have an issue with this. In Japan bowing is a sign of respect. It would be similar to our shaking of hands.

Now the bow may be a little too deep, and he's doing it while shaking hands. But overall I still see this as a show of respect. I'd rather he do a bow then shake rather than both at the same time, it may send the wrong message.

The problem I see TTF is that the emperor showed no respect for our Pres. if the emperor and bowed and Obama followed suit, I don't think anyone would mind. Both showing respect to each other. Bowing like this has never been done before. Clinton did a slight head nod and his press secretary quickly tried to do damage control by saying it was not a bow, but more of a quick nod.

it bothers me, but not like what he's doing in to our economy.
