Coach Monty Stumbaugh’s Tarpons dominated their scrimmage with Donna North Friday and look to have all the pieces necessary to give both Orange Grove and Rio Hondo a run for their money.
The Tarpons return 5 starters on both offense and defense. The workload for Port Isabel will rest on the back of Senior Omar Silva. Silva rushed for 1,063 yards, passed for 500 yards and caught 150 yards.
He won’t be alone. Running back Carlos Orduna rushed for 500 yards with 10 touchdowns in 2015 should have a banner year behind what looks to be a multiple threat offense.
Defense won’t be as dominate as the Guillot or Montelongo days, but should be one of the best in the district and that could put the Tarpons in position to win district.
