McAllen Captures Lead Early To Defeat the Cougars


Edinburg North fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 12-1 loss to McHi on Saturday. McAllen scored on an error, a single by Kike Rodriguez, and a double by Nate Quintanilla in the first inning.


McHi captured the lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for The Bulldogs.


McAllen scored five runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for The Bulldogs came thanks to a single by Robbie Maldonado, a single by Rigo Moreno, and a error.


Ram Maldonado earned the win for McAllen. He went five innings, giving up one run, six hits, and striking out six. Argelio Guajardo took the loss for Edinburg North. He threw three innings, giving up seven runs, seven hits, and striking out three.


Jonathan Salas went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead The Cougars in hits.


McAllen collected ten hits. Moreno, Maldonado, and Kike Rodriguez each collected multiple hits for McAllen. McAllen didn’t commit a single error in the field. Abanny Garcia had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.
