(MERCEDES) – Ever since she was a freshman, Mercedes pitcher Dalilah Barrera was a key commodity for her team.
Barrera continued the tradition for dominate pitchers while playing for the Lady Tigers and over her four years, led them to three district titles and a Sweet 16 appearance two years ago.
Her senior year was probably some of her finest work as Barrera had some incredible stats. Barrera ended up the year with a 14-4 record and finished with an impressive 0.99 ERA. Also, Barrera totaled 247 strikeouts and allowed only 17 earned runs this year.
At the end of the year, Barrera received countless postseason awards and last week was rewarded with another one as she was an Honorable Mention selection as a Pitcher on the Texas Sports Writers Association Class 5A All-State List.
One of her teammates also made it to the list as Felicia Garza was picked as an Honorable Mention First Baseman.
Santa Rosa’s Jazzlyn Robles was the lone Sub-4A selection as she was named to the Class 2A All-State list as a Shortstop.
