The Pirates return five starters with plenty of varsity experience.  Dylan Dougherty (.382 with 6 RBI); Luis Rosales (.411 32 RBI 2 HR and 6-1 on the mound with an ERA of 2.90); Sanuel Jimenez (.319 23 RBI 1 HR and 5-3 with an ERA of 3.80); Raul Ortiz (.158 8 RBI and 4-0 with a 1.20 ERA); and Humberto Hinojosa (.365 with 18 RBI and 1-1 with a 3.10 ERA) are these returning starters.  Plenty of strong pitching will be returning this season.  “We will have experienced arms returning on the mound this year.  Our lead off and 4 hole hitters will be needed this season,” said Coach Karlos Carrasco.  “We return five starters from last season’s bi-district team.  We only have one starter in the outfield, which might be transitioned to the infield.  The outfield will be competitive with underclassman competing at all the outfield positions,” added Coach Carrasco.   The Pirates were defeated by Orange Grove in bi-district action last season. The Pirates have gone (17-11) 2009 2nd Place; (27-7) 2010 1st Place; (17-12) 2011 3rd Place; (18-12) 2012 4th Place; (26-6) 2013 1st Place; (26-6) 2013 1st Place; (26-12) 2014 1st Place;  (25-6-1) 2015 1st Place and last season Co-Champions with Port Isabel at (18-10).  We should not expect anything different this season after winning four straight district titles over the last four seasons.
