The 2017 Los Fresnos Falcons returns one of the top team in all of South Texas and region 4.  The returning starters are very athletic and will create problems for whomever they play.  Three 1st Team All-District players return in Miguel Gonzalez (.323 with 23 RBI’s and 2 HR’s); Charles Chapa (.368 with 12 RBI’s); and George Villafranca (.410 with 20 RBI’s and 1 HR) return to anchor a very solid lineup.  Abel Rodriguez (.291 10 RBI’s and 1 HR), pitchers JJ Sanchez (.231 with 7 RBI’s and 1-1 with an ERA of 0.636), Samuel Garcia Ramirez (.268 with 11 RBI’s and 5-0 on the mound with an ERA of 2.56) and Victor Montemayor (4-1 with an ERA of 1.86) round out the returning starters.  Last season the Falcons defeated the Weslaco Panthers in Bi-District, before falling to Regional Finalist (3-2, 3-1) in a very close and hard fought series.  In 2010 the Falcons were 16-12 5th place; 2011 (17-14) 4th place; 2012 (15-10) 3rd place; 2013 (16-11) 5th place; 2014 (16-8) 4th place; 2015 (12-11) 6th place and last season (23-6) 2nd place.  The Falcons are long overdue for a district title, but three district teams look to give the Falcons a run for the money in Hanna, Weslaco, and Harlingen.  Whomever faces the Falcons this season will know that they will be in a fight.  This could be the season the Falcons have been waiting for and the coaches and players are in place to make it happen.
