McAllen Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over McAllen Memorial
McAllen defeated McAllen Memorial 12-8 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game.McAllen was down 7-6 in the top of the fifth inning when Luis Keola Zamora doubled off of Seth Soto, driving in two runs.
McHi earned the victory despite allowing McAllen Memorial to score five runs in the third inning. McAllen Memorial’s big inning was driven by a double by Nick Tovar and a triple by Ryan Manning.
The Bulldogs took an early lead in the first inning. With zero outs in the first inning Roy Quintanilla drove in three runs when he homered.

Ramy Maldonado earned the win for McAllen. He pitched five innings, allowing seven runs, eight hits, and striking out seven. Aaron Nixon recorded the last six outs to earn the save for McAllen. Manning took the loss for McAllen Memorial. He threw four and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs, eight hits, and striking out one.
McHi had 12 hits in the game. Robbie Maldonado, Victor Valdez, Nixon, and Joshua Zapata each collected multiple hits for McAllen. Zapata, Nixon, Valdez, and Maldonado each managed two hits to lead McAllen.
